Innovation is key driver of sustainable agriculture, minister says

Innovation, science, and technology are the main driving forces behind sustainable and inclusive agriculture, Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister, Majnun Mammadov, said during the third day of Baku Climate Action Week 2025 (BCAW2025), Report informs.

The minister highlighted that farmers are among the most affected by climate change: "Droughts, floods, and unpredictable weather conditions impact them the most. It is our duty to equip them with the knowledge and tools they need to adapt and thrive. Azerbaijan's COP29 Presidency was a pivotal moment. During this period, we launched the Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for farmers, and it remains central to our efforts. Harmoniya is designed as a farmer-focused initiative that brings together global and regional agricultural and climate platforms for collaboration."

Mammadov added that the third day of Baku Climate Action Week is dedicated to promoting sectoral climate resilience in agriculture, water, transport, and smart cities, as well as highlighting the vital role of women's leadership in climate action: "For the Ministry of Agriculture, today's first session-focused on smart agriculture-aligns directly with our vision."
