Azerbaijan sharply increases purchase of raw sugar from main supply market

In the first half of this year, Azerbaijan imported 133,626 tons (-25.1%) of raw sugar (without aromatic flavor or coloring additives obtained from sugar beet/cane) worth $72,241 million (-11.4%), Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.
A total of 84,449 tons (-46.4%) of products worth $46.14 million (-35.5%) were brought from Brazil, 49,149 tons (+2.3 times) worth $26.065 million (+2.6 times) from Mexico, 16.13 tons (+22.2%) worth $18,540 (-11.1%) from Colombia, 4.43 tons (-7.1%) worth $6,720 (-38.5%) from Mauritius, 3 tons worth $4,690 from Turkiye.
Imports from Turkiye resumed after a break of six years and three months.
In June, Azerbaijan imported raw sugar, mainly from Brazil. The volume of supply from that country increased by 50% in June compared to the indicator of the previous five months.
Brazil accounted for 92.2% of the 303,700 tons of raw sugar brought to the country last year.
