Azerbaijan and FAO discuss new directions for cooperation

Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are considering launching new projects in the agricultural sector.

According to Report, the issue was discussed during a meeting between Azerbaijan"s Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, and FAO"s Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, Viorel Gutu, as part of Baku Climate Week (BCAW2025).

Mammadov outlined Azerbaijan"s agricultural policy priorities, including food security issues and measures to mitigate the impact of climate change on agriculture.

Viorel Gutu emphasized the importance of strengthening global cooperation to create sustainable agri-food systems and expressed satisfaction with the level of engagement with Azerbaijan.

The parties confirmed their intention to continue work within the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program and discussed prospects for new joint projects.
